May is Cataract Awareness Month
Cataracts are a leading cause of blindness in the U.S. A cataract is a clouding of the natural crystalline lens of the eye. If you live long enough, you will develop cataracts at some point in your life, typically after age 50.
This Week’s Eye Health Tip
Medical marijuana cannot replace your glaucoma medication. Studies have shown that marijuana does lower intraocular pressure (IOP), however only for short periods of time. IOP needs around the clock control in order to prevent damage to the optic nerve, which could eventually lead to blindness if not managed properly.
