This is especially important when you’re on the slopes. In normal situations, light from the sun is diffuse because it scatters as it bounces off uneven surfaces at varying angles. With smooth surfaces such as water, ice and snow, the light doesn’t scatter. It reflects at one angle and is much more powerful.

Dr. Mandel co-authored “Excimer Laser Radial Keratotomy,” the first paper in the world which argued that excimer laser technology would revolutionize the field of refractive surgery. This is the same laser that is currently used in laser vision correction today, and is the 3rd component of the iLASIK technique.
